INFANTS (6 Weeks-12 Months): At Starfish Academy, our caregivers focus on primary care giving.  We work to help the child build a sense of security and lay a foundation for the development of confidence and trust.  We work closely with the parents to customize a daily routine that will fit the family’s needs.  Our staff is educated and trained in infant development and we provide a stimulating, safe and secure environment to encourage the infants to explore and learn.

WODDLERS: (12-18 Months):  In this age group activities are child initiated.  Our teachers act as facilitators for the children and they give support and guidance.  The activities offered for this age group are for manipulation and exploration.  Materials in the rooms will be rotated often, as the interests of the children change.  A stimulating environment is created to nurture curiosity and motivate each child.  Children begin to get on a daily routine filled with fun art projects, playground time, sensory play, and so much more.  Our Woddlers are curious learners ready for new experiences and adventures.  This class will also continue to work with the children on baby sign and their first words.

TODDLERS (18-24 Months): Short group activities are planned daily.  The attention spans are short and we do not want to discourage them.  We prefer to build upon their interest and share the joy of uncovering the pleasures of everyday life.  Your child will be surrounded with meaningful language to enhance the learning value of each new experience.  Your child will experiment with newly acquired abilities.  They will discover that they can make things happen.  This increased awareness occurs while the children are enjoying sand play, water play, toy riding, shape sorting, block building, kitchen play, dressing up, coloring, cutting, pasting, ball bouncing and many other activities.

PREK-I (2-3 Years): At this age the children are beginning to develop special friendships.  They will learn to interact with their peers.  Group activities are extended and academic introduction will begin to take place.  Activities are modified according to each child’s own individual creativity and self-expression.  This age group will continue to enjoy many of the same activities mentioned earlier in toddlers.

PREK-II (3-4 Years): In this preschool classroom, children will build their new knowledge through past experiences and existing knowledge.  Carefully structured learning environments integrate learning centers, group play, and teacher-led activities throughout the day.  

PREK-III (4-6 Years):  Kindergarten preparation is emphasized at this age level. Children will build a strong academic foundation through structured learning and a carefully planned curriculum.  Weekly themes provide fun activities.  The teachers prepare lessons geared toward readiness skills and self-expression.

Enrollment Opportunities

Starfish Academy has open enrollment, to give you that flexibility to start the school year when it’s right for you.  All registration forms must be completed prior to your child’s start date.  A South Carolina Certificate of Immunizations must also be submitted.   To save a spot for your child, a contract and deposit is required.  Please call (843) 216-8682 to inquire about a spot for your child.  
If the class you wish to enroll in is currently full a waiting list contract and waiting list deposit is necessary to add your child to the waiting list         

Saturday Night Babysitting 

Starfish Academy offers babysitting at our facility on Saturday evenings from 6:30pm-11:00pm. There are at least two teachers from our school to supervise the children. Any family that is registered at our school is able to use this service. The fee is $40.00 for one child and $10.00 for each additional sibling. You must sign-up in the front office or call in by Friday to make reservations. We are not open on Saturday to take requests and walk-ins are not permitted. We provide pizza, movies and supervised fun for the children.

**Please Note: Employees of Starfish Academy are not permitted to baby-sit, off premise, for any child that attends our school. We offer Saturday night baby-sitting at our facility to provide care for your child.

Summer Camp

The fun never ends at Starfish Academy.  Our school is open year round, keeping the same hours of operation throughout the summer months.  However, our programs take a seasonal twist with activities tailored to the lazy, hazy days of summer.  Splash days, field trips and nature discovery are all part of our exciting summer program.  This 10 week summer camp is packed with fun school activities such as our summer carnival, magic show, petting zoo, clowns, jump castles, ice cream days and more!  Starfish Academy offers a wide variety of field trips to the South Carolina Aquarium, the Children’s Museum, Boone Hall, Ready, Set Jump, Blackbeards Cove, Bowling, & much more.
